oh thats nasty

reading a news story this afternoon Linkie here
basically a family and the hospital went to court over the family member in a coma. The court ruled in favor of the hosiptal to turn the life support off. Who ever heard of taking court action to turn life support off? And yet hosiptals have to sway to burying muslims before sunset.. what about all the religious and other stuff.. thats crazy. Going to court to overrule a familys wishes! now iv'e seen on my electricity bill that you can get a discount if you have someone at home on life support.. (even tho that sounds odd, do hosiptals rent them out? or do you have to be a millionaire in the first place?)

Anyways the bad ending to this story is that yes, the hospital got the yes from court after the family couldn't prove he would ever wake after a severed spinal cord and head injuries. The life support was switched off, but he continued to breathe on his own! he was still living, until they injected morphine into him... thats right.. they got the yes to turn off life support.. not the right to murder him by drug overdose.. fancy being a family member watching that precious person in a coma, having fought in court to keep them alive, to loose. to get it switched off thinking the worst.. when the person shows better signs of life than ever and then someone nurse/doctor comes in and kills them?! hello?????!!!!!!

i know politicians and hospitals always raving about beds available, funding, waiting lists.. but this was just pure murder. And i thought euthanasia was actually illegal here and yet isn't that what they did?
My *heart* goes out to them. I hope they get a better judge, trial, inquiry this time around.

In a better note i have finished the chocolates, my goodness.. like 4hrs of chocolate making (most of it waiting for the chocolate to set) last night. today was making the white stars and wrapping them up.. and making sure tia does break/eat anything i dont want her too.. pics to come soon.
heres the link here again for the recipe click here!!! (i will tell from now on where my links are or something as my text doesn't change for links unless you have your mouse hovering over the top. pretty eh!

Doh! I forgot you had that mouse-over thingy!
Thanks for the link. I'm going to keep this in mind for next year's Christmas. Won't have time this year.

Oh! That story is heartbreaking.. What a nightmare for the family. Things like this happen all the time.. Hubby tells me.

Euthanasia has always been discreetly used in hospitals, for those who are at the end of life to shorten their suffering. I have trouble accepting THAT decision, but the case you have described is inexcusable. Let's pray that those who make these decisions examine their conscience and make peace with God.
