Happy New Years Eve

Its the last day of 2007!
What a year!
For my family it has been a big year of growth in some areas and slackness in other areas that weren't a problem before.
IN 2007 we started out waaaay up north east queensland with the humidity, box jellyfish & then the cyclone season, staying with Hubbys lovely family who are blessed to have alot of air conditioning! ;)
In February we moved to Melbourne and stayed in a hotel, praying and believing our hearts out that God was behind this plan and he would make it work. We got a place, hubby a awesome job, settled..
Later in the year we had family visit, birthdays 4th, 26th, 30th. Got the best PC we have ever owned. hubby got pay rises, new titles, a office and now 'business development manager'. Tia went to her first childcare and continued even with a few issues. No one was really sick or ill with any colds or anything, which is amazing! I made this new blog, met new blog friends, new lits friends and met Maria and Jadey! Flew to Canberra for christmas where we got more 4 generation pictures, great time with family and Tia got to play on the same play equipment as i did as a kid at my granny & poppys(the old-days they were made from metal! not plastic) Found out i was pregnant with our 2nd bub after a few months of trying. Tried and failed at loosing any weight all year. Learnt to live with our little place, our minimal stuff/junk/furniture
etc.. a year on a inflatable mattress, no microwave (minimal whitegoods, just a jug/kettle & toaster & one of those handheld dustbuster vacuum cleaners) Alot of good chocolate eaten & drunk with friends ;) A new awesome digital camera... and lots of cool video game playing time.

Once again we can feel that we are in transition again, which means more house hunting (got knocked back i think coz we wanted to move in jan not asap) but thats ok, still leaves the door open to buy? or a better house to rent in the same good location (frankston cbd & close to beach)

tonight we have a bit of party food and a zillion sparklers and a billion glow sticks, probably play our dancing stage universe (xbox 360 ddr) hopefully remember to watch the fireworks at 8.30pm for Tia.. other than that a quiet but fun n happy NYE! Hope everyone has a great, happy NYE with friends or family ;) Stay safe people!

Cult Film- Donnie Darko

They made me do it.. err not! ;) (line used in film)

It was SBS last night. I've been meaning to watch it. (been in drafts 4 awhile, not exactly christmas, NYE-like material)
At first from the clips i'd seen i thought it was some horror film.. err no.
It was great, enjoyable... and later left me with alot of questions.. gosh!
What is the movie about, well in short its about a time paradox, donnie is a bit more warped then usual because of it... he then works out he has to find the portal and go back in time to die so the world doesnt end (remember time paradoxs screw the whole time/universe/world thing)
So if you havent seen the film and still want to. Heres the SPOILER warning ;) okays..
But if you dont plan on watching it or have.. and want to listen to me ramble on about my understanding of the film.

Okay here goes. (along with my questions.. i might have to watch it again)
Frank is real, the frank Donnie sees is the Dead Frank from the future, but of course dead people are free of time and they can do whatever they want(there are 2 franks in this time).. Dead frank in the paradox (most of movie) tells donnie what to do and how long till the world ends (due to time paradox) The real frank of the future kills Donnies Girlfriend and Donnie shoots frank in the eye. Grandma Death was a nun until she got wrapped up in some sort of time paradox, she writes a book on the philosphy of time travel and describes everything like Donnie is seeing. She lives in a crappy house and constantly checks her mailbox. So i'm wondering what kind of time paradox she was caught in, how did she get out of it.. and was it something to do with the letter/mailbox?
I also wonder since donnie went back thru a portal what became of the world after he died (to end paradox and bring back to life his girlfriend) Obviously the guy gets away with his kiddy porn, his mum doesnt go on the plane, his girlfriend and the girl with the crush:'shut up' girl get picked on by the sleezeball guys who later rob grandma deaths house along with frank and his clown friend.

the lazy one is back!

that would be me.
The internet died at my parents house in canberra early boxing day. The internet guy turned up to fix it as we were leaving for the airport yesterday on the 28th! lol!
(after they were previously told it wouldnt be fixed until monday! yikes) Its some weird internet company in canberra so once that modem dies, it cant be replaced with any other modem. A ethernet cable comes out of the wall instead of the usual telephone line. so its dsl internet and not the usual adsl?
I'm watching video hits, i'm pretty sure its a exact repeat of last weeks show/list alot of the original songs now found on singstar.
I love old 80's stuff, cracks me up! So here's a funny one. Gotta luv BIG HAIR!! lol.. oh and pirate eye patches never go out of fashion do they?

lol.
Anyways stay in canberra went very quickly. Got some lovely presents and new luggage. Got to go through our stuff that is still at mums that didnt fit in suitcases last time. Grabbed some baby clothes, books, photos, dressing gowns, toys.. Tia behaved herself pretty well.
The flight home was interesting with virgin blue.. lol.. the plane was delayed 30mins, we got to sit altogether! yay! We got to see alot of south canberra and the tons of country between ACT and VIC.. the masses of divided ranges? like the land was a piece of paper crumpled up with tons of little hills/mountains and not a flat piece of land in sight.. parliment house and the telstra tower were sooo tiny being up so high.. lol. amazing. (oh and somehow we didnt get charged for our luggage being over weight? wow)
It was nice to fly when the sun was still up.
Bit wary when we got to the airport and saw the line for the shuttle buss, however by the time we got to the 1 machine giving out tickets at T3 tullamarine the rush was over (however in 5mins time another rush would start!) I guess thats a bonus of flying virgin blue into melb you get the shuttle buss 1st, it then goes to T2 and picks up the jetstar people with a already full bus!!! eep! I got foxtel on the flight, every time the plane had to turn the foxtel would switch off.. i watched parts of some wife swap UK show(until i cant stand this one guy! his punishment for his kids was a workout! pushups, squats, situps.. when he broke the rules he denied it saying they needed proof.. yadda yadda crap yadda.. that and he had his wife fluff the rug every day with a brush! argh!!!), some 'keeping up appearances' (BBC), got CNN saying bhutto had been assassinated.. ah CRAP!, some Nigella (thats what is was called), like she had her own live-sh audience and made a cake using coke! Basically melted butter with cocoa with coke. a egg, flour, salt, baking soda and buttermilk... she had some friend or celebrity i dunno with her that was a awful cook.. (well she keep saying she was) I watched some other show where you win 1,000 pounds, basically you are your snotty-ish friends get together everyone throws a dinner party seperately, you all judge it, they usually arent the normal cooks of the house.. and then it moves onto your next friends dinner party and the next one after that.. lol.. one guy cooked a main of tex steaks.. only he could only cook them 1 at a time. lol.
anyways i will *sneeze* (sorry bout that) be back after shopping, getting our gear back from hubbys work (there just in case this place got broken into, the 360, desktop, wii, & games..)
my parents gave us $300 for chrissy!! WOW! :D
and we have to go to the post office to pick up prezzies from james parents..
and we have yet to do our own spoilt christmas prezzies.. like another tv, 360 and my dance dance universe (home ddr mat for xbox360!) ah sweet! pretty wishful thinking that we'd get all that today tho! lol!
hope you all had amazing time with family and loved ones!! Its almost 2008.. not long now!

Merry christmas!!

Its christmas day already! wow!!!
In short our flight to canberra via virgin blue was on the 23rd at 9pm. However i had packed everything by about 1pm, a taxi to the shops to have lunch out and then a short walk to the train. 1hr train to southern cross, we arrive at 4.30 catch the skybus (airport shuttle bus) $30 (for 2 adults & 1 child one way) which is great no smelly, bumpy, cranky taxi drivers ripping us off by going the long way. No traffic at all leaving the city. 20mins later we wait at the airport for like 3-4hrs. In that time i gave hubby a hand massage, watched all the odd people find ways to jump the long check in queues!! (shockers!!not the ones that the attendants wave thru as check in time for the flight is closing soon) Have dinner, look at the overpriced junky toy store. We used the virgin blue self check in service and find that we wont be sitting all together. in the same row but 2 together on 1 side and me on the other side. I don't think i want to fly virgin blue again! Seriously it was choas!
1) Several planes were delayed. so our departure lounge was packed with people on our flight & the delayed flight
2) The amount of last calls for people not making it to flights was constant.
3) They swapped departure lounges for some flights
4) they swapped our plane for a different one. So they had to check that everyone still had the same seat on the new one as they did for the old one.
5) the aisle is smaller than jetstar planes
6) theres less leg room, smaller seats on virgin compared to jetstar

however i did like the little screen on the back of chairs each with their own credit card swipe to purchase foxtel. For $5 Tia watched the kids channel and was so happy and quiet!! Our head flight attendant was funny, on the way out she said "We must advise you that canberra have strict quarantine regarding krispy kreme donuts, you may hand them over to the attendants upon leaving. make sure you take everything with you as anything left will be divided between the crew and anything left over will be found on ebay tomorrow!"
and as usual we sit up the back and overhear the terrible love lifes of the gay/straight flight attendants.. *sigh* i wouldnt mind doing that flight attendant job, looking pretty, doing a few things then chatting away while you count all the snacks, sandwiches etc.. lol!

anyways all is good. Went shopping yesterday on christmas eve, had hungry jacks *horray!* next time we shall try kingsley's. Which is the fast food place canberra people swear is the best! lol! Its basically chips, chicken (southern, tandorri or pepper style)
Got presents for everyone but aunts, uncles cousins (who are all teens anyways) and couldnt think or find anything for my grandparents. so hopefully the sales tomorrow will turn up something.

anyways my dad is working today, so we will be opening presents when he comes home after 3pm. Im glad Tia isnt old enough to bug us about opening presents now (and repeating every 5minutes) and everyone else is old enough to wait. Not to mention its almost 11am and we are still all wrapping presents and borrowing wrapping paper! lol!

Hope everyone has a safe and happy christmas!

oh thats nasty

reading a news story this afternoon Linkie here
basically a family and the hospital went to court over the family member in a coma. The court ruled in favor of the hosiptal to turn the life support off. Who ever heard of taking court action to turn life support off? And yet hosiptals have to sway to burying muslims before sunset.. what about all the religious and other stuff.. thats crazy. Going to court to overrule a familys wishes! now iv'e seen on my electricity bill that you can get a discount if you have someone at home on life support.. (even tho that sounds odd, do hosiptals rent them out? or do you have to be a millionaire in the first place?)

Anyways the bad ending to this story is that yes, the hospital got the yes from court after the family couldn't prove he would ever wake after a severed spinal cord and head injuries. The life support was switched off, but he continued to breathe on his own! he was still living, until they injected morphine into him... thats right.. they got the yes to turn off life support.. not the right to murder him by drug overdose.. fancy being a family member watching that precious person in a coma, having fought in court to keep them alive, to loose. to get it switched off thinking the worst.. when the person shows better signs of life than ever and then someone nurse/doctor comes in and kills them?! hello?????!!!!!!

i know politicians and hospitals always raving about beds available, funding, waiting lists.. but this was just pure murder. And i thought euthanasia was actually illegal here and yet isn't that what they did?
My *heart* goes out to them. I hope they get a better judge, trial, inquiry this time around.

In a better note i have finished the chocolates, my goodness.. like 4hrs of chocolate making (most of it waiting for the chocolate to set) last night. today was making the white stars and wrapping them up.. and making sure tia does break/eat anything i dont want her too.. pics to come soon.
heres the link here again for the recipe click here!!! (i will tell from now on where my links are or something as my text doesn't change for links unless you have your mouse hovering over the top. pretty eh!

6 days till christmas

Yup! Its under a week to go now!! Gosh!!!
Hubby finishes work well thursday, friday he will go to work (get paid etc) but everyone is cleaning the place and then theres the work sausage sizzle party at lunch.. and then home?
For work people im making like the picture above altho they are rocky road christmas tree chocolates i will be making cherry ripe chocolate trees. I think its better to do the cherry ripe snack size in the choc mix along with some coconut & glace cherries. Im not sure everyone would like what they suggest; marshmallows, peanuts & turkish delight. I've never been a big fan of turkish delight! bleh! Hahaha *just thought of lion witch and the wardrobe*

oh noes.. theres even a song about turkish delight.. lol.. enjoy!

and another thing i cant stop thinking about. I love victoria secret shows! i like some of the underwear but seriously screw that i want them to sell wings! LOL! check out the star at the end worn by heidi klum.. I enjoyed it probably more this year (not due to the spice girls, bleh!) but to the aussie on the show our Miranda kerr.. i remember it was when i was in highschool that she entered the dolly model contest and won! At that age none of us worked or got enough allowance to buy the magazines to we were always in the highschool library reading all the dolly and girlfriend magazines! wow we were dorks!! giggling over the dolly doctor and sealed sections.. its scary to think back to that section and realise how many girls out there have no idea about sex, stds etc.. and yet they are being sexually active.. yikes.. anyways back to the show, the wings, the pretty long legs and long hair... hahahaha!! i thought the christmas section was heaps funny! lol! (its a shame not all of the christmas section is in that vid)

anyways ive got some chocolate making to do and perhaps i will make a cheese ball tomorrow ;)

a interesting time..

Been a bit quiet haven't i? I must admit ive been busy and having fun! ;)

My anniversary went well, hubby got a few hours off in the morning on friday so we could have breakfast together. breakfast was sooooo good! I decided The Coffee Club, yum. had a Mocha & a bacon, egg & cheese on a toasted focaccia bun for $9.50. Normally any breakfast that i didnt have to make is amazing, but this was really good. nevermind that it was a friday and the last day of Tia in childcare for the year, so we did have to wait until she was dropped off at 9.30!!! I was starving!

We then looked at jewellery shops and i didnt find anything i liked, but i did get my engagement ring polished and cleaned for $2. The guy who did it (typical blacksmith look) was cheeky and kept going on about how i must be gripping something metal alot to get so many marks and scratches. *rolls eyes* no i don't.. its just had 6 years of ME! lol!

I decided i'd get something nice to wear for the christmas management party that night, i've seen all the maternity clothes before in the other shops and nothing was dressy enough! So i decided i'd go to this shop called Big City Chic! lol! ;) The lady was so helpful, i couldnt stop smiling when she said i looked like a medium! nevermind that a medium in this shop is a 18-20. ;) i tried it on a nice white top with polka dots, black lace band under the bust and sleeveless.. it didnt look flattering, just a tad to big also. So in a hurry i decided on this black sleeveless top with the beads and sequins (the other one in the pic is a dress) Lots of room for a bigger bump later! ;) Grabbed another coffee (or in my case a cocoa locco) from gloria jeans and headed back with hubby till we had to split, him off to work and me back home.
Picked tia up and went back out shopping deciding that i need a new pretty hair clip, saw a few in diva but $2 bux more than i wanted to spend, found what i wanted tho in a different shop!
It was about time to leave or call a cab, but the line was busy! doh!!! So i walked in my normal joggers and when we almost go there i changed into nicer shoes, that i havent worn in completely! haha! Everyone was there, the girls and the boys in 2 different groups! lol! I had apple juice everyone else was drinking beers or some nice wine the boss had picked.
It was a interesting evening, a shame towards the end. So much food! gosh!

For drinks there were apparently the best ever prawn crackers & cashews. Entrees were spring rolls, prawn battered & deepfried on a sugar cane stick, prawn & veg rice paper rolls, pork balls and basil leaves and lettuce leaves! 1st course was satay chicken and rice, 2nd course was a interesting mild viet curry veggies and a bread roll to use as a dip, 3rd course was a DIY meat & veg fondue? lol! There were portable gas stoves with a boiling pot and we got little special spoons to place meat (chicken, beef, squid, prawns, fish, scallops) and a plate of veggies to put in & some vermicelli noodles and a nice terriyaki & sesame seed sauce. we were all quite full as you can imagine. (i didnt take my handbag so i had no camera! doh!)

It was awesome, i don't think i have had Vietnamese food before but this was great. then there was a fruit platter and later tea and biscuits but we never got to that, by then it was 11ish! Tia was really well behaved, the boss of the restaurant had a little boy around 5-6ish who was a real gentlemen and drew on the tables (the food is quiet messy so theres paper covering the tables) with her and played. she was upset at leaving, nevermind it was way past her bedtime!
It really was so kind of them to put that kind of a dinner on! gosh!

Also good news, i'm 9 weeks pregnant so i will go for my ultrasound after christmas, perhaps early new year since we come back on the 28th. james really wants twins! thats crazy! lol! I also chickened out of living thru morning sickness and bought anti-morning sickness tablets basically ginger and vit B6 in the tablets. I tell you what they burn they are so hot! have to get them down very quickly! They are working pretty well, however some things will make me sick whatever i take!
is it 1 week till christmas today? i still havent done any cards for family or sent any gifts to qld for christmas! My bad! Hope you all are having a great weekend!

Plagued by a itchy finger!

I get this occasionally and i had ages ago heard its fixable, but couldn't exactly remember how or what i was doing wrong. Its my wedding and engagement rings giving me a itchy red ring whe i wear them, so for a few days i didnt wear them which was really odd. I think the mistake i made was cleaning them and then not rinsing them under water afterwards. oops.
so i looked it up. this site was handy on wedding ring dermatitis
Giving my finger a rest/airing out, rinsing my finger & the ring, using a moisturizing cream, cortisone cream or a antibacterial anti itch cream. Hopefully it will go away soon!

Im watching the show dont forget the lyrics which i do love, as usual game shows go they choose weird characters to go on the shows! That chick that ca sing, but pulls weird faces when she dances like err well not as bad as elaine from seinfield.. but still its odd and no doubt i would look as weird if i was in the same spot. How those people can carry a tune and look so happy while they sing for money is beyond me.. she won 200k so thats pretty awesome.

oh some of seinfield is just so funny.AH gosh they just did breakfast at tiffany's song.. i had a best friend laila at school so we shared the same pain! I have a cousin called Roxanne too.. hmm any other name based songs out there ive forgotten? lol

My wedding anniversary is on friday! not long now! gosh! Hubby has been asking what kind of present i want, very interesting... usually the only present is dinner out, as its close to christmas and travelling to see family that there isnt much more money to go around. But im clueless as to what i want? As i said before that hubby forgot the date of our anniversary kept asking me to find a babysitter for the night and i found out that it was coz of the work management christmas dinner! His lovely boss has said tia can come along if we have no babysitter. which is good coz now i dont have to worry about hubby getting the busiest day of the week off to have some time with him, cant say im looking forward to going out to any restaurant with me chucking up at every meaty food smell. (and i dont have to worry about cleaning up the place for the babysitter and the lack of furniture in this house)

On monday night hubby went out shopping after work and i asked him to grab some maccas for dinner! Tuesday night i put on a roast beef dinner and stayed in my airtight bedroom reading until it was finished i went to the kitchen to serve it up then asked hubby too and ran to the toilet! bleh! Tonight was some cooked frozen lasagna that i made awhile back i also made some ginger cupcakes at the same time to make the smell nicer! It worked, it was handy to have a cupcake held up to my nose to block any smell of dinner while in the kitchen, i'm sure it looked weird. lol! Although i usually dont have too much trouble with being sick at night (well after dinner) unless i look at the dishes. Yes i have had hubby wash the pots for me on the weekend, lol! And for the roast dinner i put baking paper down in the tray and it worked a treat keeping the tray clean! whoot! I am over the moon about that! We like our roasts well done and so the burnt juices are usually a pain to scrub off (not to mention make a mockery of "non-stick")
im just so sleepy lately..

Baby tax needed to save planet, claims expert

Its amazing how professors come up with something really stupid once in awhile, to get attention i suppose. Nevermind we live in whats meant to be a prosperous economy and with a aging population and not long ago we were encouraged to have one 'for the country'. I mean we have more baby boomers than babies.. why not tax the majority? the ones who can profit as they bought their house for $20k-$50k and can now sell for 300-600k, lol.. (see i can create a suggestion like a expert too)
We have industries screaming for workers, professions but we have little available housing and therefore cant truly afford to get more migrants in but we do.. coz we r a nice country if you come the legal way. *sigh* Its interesting to read that theirs offsets for condoms & sterilization's BUT nothing about getting checked exactly how much carbon a baby/child uses... like how you have to take your car in to get it checked if it can go on the roads or fill in forms for insurance or welfare.. and then how not to make it so it doesnt discriminate against poor families.. but then if its just poor families not paying is that discriminating against rich families who pay more than their fair share of taxes that poor families cant afford to pay already.
lets not forget there is tax everywhere in australia.. why do we need more? Should the government be spending better the tax we already pay? Doesn't this miss the agenda of big business pollution, developing countries, poor countries and all the pollution they make?
I mean in my state alone next year theres something about utilities going up by $150.. and we use 30% green electricity by choice and pay the extra $$

Another great chocolate trip.. i mean city trip ;)

What a day! Im glad to be absolutely energy-less! :D
We missed our train that would have gotten us there on time, it seems they have put more trains on in the morning (as usually there was a train 1 hr after that one) so there was only a 15 minute gap between the one we missed and the one we got on! (which was waiting already) The morning was awesome! Windy, cold-ish and some light rain! What a break from the heat and sun!

Got in and waited for the other special people to arrive, read in a directory about the clock how it does this marionette opening thing on the hour. maria and jenna arrived and we waited for the clock thing.. and so was 2 different school groups and other tourists.. it was 3 minutes late! funny!Off to the usual chocolate feast place, max brenners. Jenna had a Popsicle fondue (very interesting!) Maria had a 1/2 or 1/4 strength cappuccino in a kangaroo mug, it has a extra pouch at the side of the mug where melted chocolate can be licked.(photo below) (Tia had a milk hot chocolate (which i didnt actually ask for, but oh well.. she can consider herself spoilt for the day) and a chocolate lick now $2.20 (gone up 20c)I had a dark chocolate mocha which was rather on the dark bitter side than i expected and a rich brownie(which the waiter forgot about til i said i was still waiting on it, she still did a good job remembering our order off the top of her head, how many times did we test her? lol).
Tia enjoying the ribbons from the presents Maria & Jenna gave us! Also wearing her funky necklaces that she got! *forgot to try out the torch tonight, will have to try it tomorrow. ;)Maria and I!
Presents i received. YAY! presents! =D Much appreciated! A Tea towel with christmas theme, (we have survived with only 2 tea towels all year.. lol!) a purrrty basket with mini christmas puddings inside, a good health magazine (which i thought would be great to read on the trip home, but spent more time pointing at 2 pages that were 100kj & 400kj with tia pointing out chocolate, chips, strawberry, cheese, sushi etc lol!) a sample of some special baby bath stuff and some stickers! whoot! ;)

A trip to krispy kreme while the queue was short picked up a chocolate glazed creme filled, to share with hubby.Breadtop for lunch! Wishing there was a local one! Love their little buns, rolls, donuts not keen on pork floss buns or chicken & mushroom donut lol! But they have alot of yummy stuff. Also decided to pick up for later. Some choc chip buns & some Red bean Mochi.Central Groceries? Is the asian imports grocery shop where i stock up on mens pocky and look at the daifuku & other mochi (made in taiwan tho, i rather either Japan or Aussie made.. picky arent i)
A visit to L'Occitane, came across a Honey Massage nectar.
Light and soothing. Blend of propolis, royal jelly and honey from Provençal hives soothes; linden extract and bisabolol extract calm and help reduce irritation. Natural honey aroma pleases the senses. Use as a comforting massage lotion or as a body lotion. Suitable for adults and children ages three and up.
On my wish list! Not oily which is great, i hate giving a massage only to get oily hands and think about how terrible it is for hubbys skin.. especially if he falls asleep. Smells good, not over bearing like some cheap stuff!

It was great day! In L'Occitane Tia was asked if jenna was her sister, lol! And after that Tia was very happy to call jenna 'sister'. Tia cried when went to go home on the train, she wanted her sister! lol! Very cute.

Now to get some sleep... Night all! ;)

a new milestone

Don't turn green on me.. But i... umm puked today! proud? i new you would be j/k!
So i guess i might have some more real morning sickness, perhaps.. instead of just feeling sick.

Im now 8 weeks pregnant! I shouldnt have a preggie bump, but i do and ive read that its fluid! Oh yay! Excuse me a second.. i think it heard me, my rings (just took em off) they got painfully tight (and they arent usually) But thats a common thing lately, especially around this time of the evening.

ive discovered ginger teddies.. its a lolly but still has ginger.. im afraid im not keen on the real, stringy crystalized ginger... im not sure im going to be such a ginger fan after this!

Oh dear. hubby has been asking me for a few weeks now if i knew anyone who could babysit Tia next friday, i always assumed that it was for our anniversary dinner!!! But no, apparently work has the management christmas dinner that night and they cant change it now. :(

Tia has been watching youtube alot today, (supervised.. altho she always calls me when she gets lost. she knows what she wants to watch & nothing else! lol) she is sooo into the powerpuff girls! (maybe coz she has the toys and not a dvd. it seems the more she watches something the quicker she gets tired of it and over it?)
This one is her favourite.

Melting

Summer has hit! After months of nice cool weather and lots of rain we have had like a week without rain, and its been so hot!
The kind of hot weather that you wish you had a pool, beachside apartment, air conditioning or a car! Walking in the heat is a pain, especially with the flies! I keep telling myself i will be ok if i keep my mouth shut! That doesnt stop flies going kamikaze up my nose or full throttle at my forehead.. whats with those weird ones?

Today has been a Godsend! Rain! Storms.. all very pleasant, nothing very close, no downpours just a constant drizzle of rain!

Im not a summer person! In fact if i was a billionaire i would spend winter in the northern hemisphere and get a freaking white christmas and spend winter in the southern hemisphere!

Did you know dominoes pizza now has salads on its menu? Theyre like $7bux.. i wish they would just bring back the lite cheese! lol!

its only just lunch time and so far today i have eaten:
3 pieces of raisin toast, 2 pieces of peanut butter toast, pieces of watermelon, 1 choc chip cookie and for lunch 2 pieces of cheese on toast melted with satay sauce (my favourite) with the weather so nice i might have a coffee for the first time in ages!

hubby was sick saturday night, i stayed up till 2am just to make sure he was ok, knowing that if i slept he would probably wake me each time he had to race to bathroom.. heheh i thought i was the one meant to be vomiting?! lol! Tia and i spent the night eating pizza and watching the movie Elf, which she loved!
during the day when hubby was still well we went out shopping had iced coffees, did some ddr, enjoyed the air conditioning and bought a christmas tree and some LED lights.. its the biggest tree our lil family has ever had 91cms and cost $17.99 from k-mart on special! whoot! We got battery operated LED lights that are low voltage, which means they arent glass or going to break easy and Tia can touch them. However i was in a rush and it was only a pack of 10! lol! so we have this big empty tree with 1 line of lights lol! Oh and we have plenty of gadgets all hogging up power boards in this house so the lights running off batteries is awesome. If ever i build a house i will have power points on every single wall!!!

my faves

oh this was fun! thanks maria ;)

Friday, November 30, 2007

Thank God its friday!

This ones for my buddy Maria!!!! ;) Thanks for being there!

whats on my mind lately.. well..
Isn't it odd when you get advice from strangers? im sure they mean well.. I think their main mistakes are having to assume.. assume you dont know your babies different cries, assume youve never watched dr phil ('well is it working for yah?' sorry could help myself), assume you weren't bought up in a house full of kids.. anyways you get my point. As hubby says 'assumptions are the mother of all f**** ups!' That advice has been a Godsend, even with the profanity.. eeerrr. yeah.. 0.o

Im no angel ive said 'aww shes hungry' once to a friend of mine when her bub cried.. and then regretted it.. the kind reply i got from her was 'really? i just fed her!' oh! Oh no! i've just done it haven't i? Im grateful she was sweet about it.. had it been me.. i suppose i would have been dumbstruck or just quietly seethed until i could no longer hold it and have to vent! (her 3rd bub mind you!) oh, yes i say alot of dumb things..

I picked up cosmopolitan pregnancy magazine this week and i've loved it! They had advice on how to handle the situation with those other dumb things people say like 'my gawd your boobs are huge', 'my mother/wife/sister wasnt as big as you'.. and my favorite the beauty therapist doing a bikini line mentions 'youre a bit loose' LOL!!! Ah the odd things the pregnant woman goes thru.. there was tons of pretty expensive maternity clothes, underwear all modeled by pregnant women.. i've been disappointed with other pregnancy magazines, mum n bub mags, parenting mags but this one is a winner.. and yeah its not a cheapie! x.x So many good articles! ;)
Tia had time out today at childcare for a punching! After that she was more behaved than usual.. im glad its coming down.. im still not happy that she punched some poor kid! im wondering who she is hitting, is it over sharing? is it provoked? I'm still having to ask the workers how she went, when i'd rather (and ive done my share of working with kids) they would come to me and tell me how she went without asking..

Ive just informed hubby that im not cooking any meat!!!.. if i smell cooking meat i will head for the toilet.. for sure.. and im still winning! Tonights dinner was 2 minute noodles!! I have been getting my meat fixes from takeaway.. not good i know x.x

Enjoy your friday night & the weekend all!!!

World truths how i see it

Awww how cute is that!!! And thats where the cuteness ends in this post.. 0.o

I'm always reading the news online.. saves me watching tv channels that choose what stories they will share and saves me watching SBS which is more unbiased BUT they recycle OLD stories!!! (there was a story they did on china putting spyware in computers and hacking into PENTAGON!.. i looked up online to find the same story and it turned out to be OLD news!! By a few months!) We might live in a good country, Australia might be ranked by the UN at #3 of the most livable countries behind norway and iceland.. but we are still fed what big news/channel bosses want us to be fed.

So it turns out there was no proof that Diana was pregnant.. and that Dodi was 2 weeks off marrying/engaging her.. its not going to be enough for the conspiracy people who think Princess Diana was killed by the Queen.. it seems the paparazzi haven't learnt a thing about dangerous driving if you talk to George Clooney (who gets about by motorcycle.. interesting eh!)

Whales.. about time some hollywood/home & away stars actually did something for a cause other than use their pretty faces.. they get served arrest warrants for interrupting international economy or something like that? sorry japan.. dont you mean your research? or is that japan comming out with the truth and not hiding behind the research banner? *rawr, LOL!!!*Note to japan, You aren't fooling us! you never have! We have the Irwins here, we know how research is done! In fact australians have been researching and tracking the rare whale shark.. freaking weird looking things.. with tracking devices.. thats how we do research.. probably weigh it, measure it, fit it with a device and let it go.. NOT harpoon it, drag it aboard and slice it up.. Japan's whale research is more like.. does carrots go with whale?, does whale go with white wine or red wine?, how many school kids and japanese people can we brainwash that whaling has always been part of the japanese culture? (when whaling only started during a ww.. or after) Can you tell im peeved at the japanese? I love japan.. not their whaling tho.

Gillian Gibbons is the name of the british teacher who in sudan was caught insulting mohammed by letting her class name a teddy bear. Islamic people dont like any representation of mohammed.. i think they need to think twice about all the drop kicks who are actually called mohammed (people), Its funny how its always the foreigners fault! I can imagine the kids in the class may have had friends or family called mohammed.. or if the kids are into islam how they might be representing their love for the mohammed is as much as they love teddy bears.. its just another recent example this week how medieval islam & islamic law really is.. caught in the stone age.. i mean its the only religion that still allows death by stoning!! hello???!!!!

yes i am a walking bundle of inner rage today... the hormones are going crazy.. i float from this happy, cuddly, glowing woman to this paranoid, teary, worrywart to a woman who cannot stop ranting in my head.. to someone who is just to tired or sleepy to care..

say Cheese

What a night! well, no it wasn't that interesting. other than getting up ever 3 hrs to pee thru the night! very annoying, new bub seriously can't be affecting my bladder already.. but it seems it can.
All-day-sickness is going ok.. the toilet is not my friend.. every time i feel nausea coming on its into the crystallized ginger *grimaces*.. or some sort of carbohydrate food..

Now onto cheese. ;) How much do you like to pay for cheese? gosh, it can get expensive!
At woolworths they had 2 bega 250g cheese for $7. So i thought i'd get the natural slices.. i must be so lazy but i love that the cheese has already been sliced into perfect squares! hahaha! i usually just settle for the light tasty woolworths brand. Im not a big cheese fan i really only like: dutch smoked, smoked cheddar, cheddar, vintage.

Hubby (who doesnt like to be abbreviated) has asked if i can lug his laptop over to his work. It looks like its going to rain any second (altho its looked like that since i woke up) The thing weighs a ton! hmm.. he said i could have $50 this morning and i thought that was coz i was so nice and made him raisin toast and a coffee... hahaha! Im so very worried/tempted to go out and get maternity clothes! Its great that normal clothing places have decent maternity clothes than the awful stuff they had 4 years ago! But yeah i dont have many big things to wear.. not that i expect to balloon out so quickly.. i guess it comes from not having much to wear last time!

So ive talked about tiger airways before, i read a email they sent. $2.99 +tax etc to phuket, bangkok! $12.99+ tax to other places in china! *faints* and coz im a chicken i dont think i'll be going.. well i'd never go to bali whatever the price! But vietnam or china yeah... im just thinking what would happen if that deal was advertised on some show like getaway, great outdoors.. lol!

It's almost friday!! woohoo!!

now 7 weeks

Summer is here.. its hot thru the night and i keep waking up. I hate sleeping badly. Today its meant to rain and have a storm.. i wonder if it will.. *yawn*
Not much happening, same old.. forgetting to do stuff, looking for a new place, cleaning and avoiding cooking meat... and i seem to have a cold or somesort of hayfever, my nose runs (ew) and im always sneezing... i dont feel stuffy or anything.. its odd.

sorry got distracted for a moment by playschool! lol!

I missed it but Bridie carter won dancing with the stars? i saw the freestyle dance on the morning show and it was great! however i havent found it on youtube yet.. so this weird wacky one will have to do.. i still think she pulls weird faces when she dances..as usual im glad she won without me having to vote! hahaha! the weird jungle theme samba.

feeling green

The all day nausea continues and no visit to chuck-up-ville as yet. thank goodness!
feeling good after food.. but now the nausea doesnt wait till im hungry (altho it makes it worse if i am).. ginger snap biscuits and crystalized ginger is helping tho! altho you can only eat so much ginger till your mouth burns! My smelling ability has gone off the scale!!! my gawd.. ive been re-heating food and the smell from that cooking is enough to make me turn green! i can smell the fish shop from 2 extra shop distances away than normal.. it ain't fresh. Even my perfume effects my nausea.. bleh! this cannot be happening!!!! (the perfume thing, lol)

The girls at the childcare centre have booked tia in for 2 days a week without me asking, i guess they were being nice.. but truly annoying as it is having to assume they have booked her in like this for the rest of the year! so i rang up today and canceled the one for tomorrow.

the offical announcement post

(apologies for the blurry pic)
i'm pregnant. woohoo.. lol. we are all very happy here!
family was told last week.. (i really find it annoying keeping secrets and i cant stand lying.. its all that extra remembering required i think! lol)
the short: weve been trying since about feb/march started off trying to do the chose your gender bub thing.. to get a boy one of the suggestions was that eating chocolate was a nono!!! sooo you can imagine how that didnt last very long... that and the couple months of no result i think we agreed that any baby would do.. so out went all the restraints, monitoring etc..
i was a few days late and dh is like i bet your pregnant! and he turned out to be right. there's no surprising him!
i wonder if they will ever make some sort of easier home test than pee-ing on a stick or in a cup..
im due on the 16th of july 2008. im 6 weeks 4 days preggie.
:D so there it is.

winner

and the winner is... younger nerd!

old nerd vs younger nerd

Its election day. We had previously talked about going in 1st thing at 8am and getting it over and done with.. but we didnt end up leaving til 10am-ish!

So we walked a different way and surprised ourselves with what we found in our suburb.. more doctors, dentists, pathology, takeaways and eventually found the place we could vote at.

Its a funny thing isn't it? You see the crowd and think how many of those flier people can i get past before im caught? today it was alot like i was some famous person with my bodyguard getting from the club/restaurant to the car.. lol. 1st it was the liberal party 'no thank you!', 'Vote Labour dude!' *blinks.. he said whaaat??* then the greens 'no thank you'.. ah DH being polite and still getting thru a crowd. ;)

Got my 2 papers, and the one for the senate is a easy 1 in a box at the top or a 1 to 68 down the bottom. Well, i dont like anyone spending my preferences how they like.. (if thats how it goes)
and i always love filling out forms! BRING IT ON!

Its all done.. i think every channel on tv is doing a election thing tonight (other than ch10 who is doing one of the old star wars movies) If DH is playing assassins creed then i will have to find some online thing to occasionally look at..

Its so great that this is over.. personally i find it very hard to not be negative bout politicians that say dumb things about others.

I hate smear campaigns, fight policy! i wish they would keep it clean! don't you?

more yawns

so very tired. What a day!
First off, i got sucked into a interesting video game..
then we were off to get Tia and her hearing check done... that went well, until the end and Tia was more interested in playing with toys than listening for sounds. Turns out they are pretty sure she is very normal with her hearing.. but we can re-book if we want to attempt to finish the test again. No charge, so that was cool. Then we did some shopping out that weird way.. i was getting cold so i bought myself a jumper for $7.50 good thing one clothing shop was still selling winter-ish stuff!

Since i was walking past the doctors, thought i'd go in and make an appointment. When i got there, it was empty and the doctor was catching up on paper work.. hahahaha i thought wow! i bet i will get straight in! And yes i did! woohoo!

Did some more shopping afterwards, got some pre-school learn to write books.. i have looked at Tia's recent drawings (on the kitchen bench!!! grr!) and she has drawn/written the letters: p,b,y,m ??!!

Waited around for 90mins for hubby to leave & lock up work. had a coffee to wake myself up.. then tried out the new chicken range at macdonalds.

The new chicken deluxe burger, has a mix of iceberg & spinach leaves?, like a cesaer sauce and a interesting more breasty chicken patty that is crumbed, 1 slice of tomato and a slice of natural looking cheese. The chicken dippers are pretty tasteless, breasty.. the end result. If you want a chicken burger or chicken pieces go to kfc! 1 small chicken deluxe burger meal, a chicken deluxe burger with bacon & 3 chicken dippers will put you back $17!!!!!!!!!! Its expensive and if ur cravin kfc it is not even comparable!

We then got a new xbox 360 game, Assassin's creed. went and bought sake, checked the arcade but for some reason it had shut 1 hour early, so no ddr. Maybe thats a good thing, since im so tired lately.

sad but true

this youtube video is a spoof of the song rockstar by nickelback (which i havent heard i dont think. but a very clever song) It was a interesting watch, doesnt necessarily need sound.

i got tagged

I got tagged by Tina for this meme.

Here are the rules:

When tagged, you must link to the person who tagged you. Then post the rules before your list, and list eight random things about yourself. At the end of the post, you must tag and link to eight other people. It’s fun. Give it a shot. It’s also a great way to get to know other bloggers.

OK, so 8 random things about me:

  • I cant read music!
  • I'd love to have a drum set
  • I really wanted a microscope in my teens for christmas, i got it the next christmas after..
  • I dont listen to radio at all..
  • I like quiet
  • I wake up thru the night to hear DH sleeptalk and then fall back asleep
  • Never had stitches or any operations or broken any bones
  • i like cosplay (japanese adult dress-ups!!!)

If I didn’t tag you and want to play along, please feel free :)

Aussies are mean, says Geldof

Heres the full story link.

"Australia dedicates 0.3 per cent of its gross national income to foreign aid each year."
"It's embarrassingly pathetic," Geldof, who was yesterday made an honorary ambassador for Brisbane, said of Australia's foreign aid."

"In fact, it's one of the meanest in the world. For a country which keeps boasting about its huge growth - which is absolutely correct, you should boast and be proud of it - is 99.5 per cent not enough for you?"~Bob Geldof

Truthfully, i had no idea our giving was so little. In all seriousness the only time our federal government spends money is tax time or elections! Oh and dont forget the fear that if they even spend a extra cent extra it adds to 'inflation' and rises the interest rate.. we dont let our heads or our hearts rule here in australia.. we let the fear of a recession, the big pop, the higher interest rates rule us.
But government and spending aside. (lets hope governments pull their fingers out) its not like we dont give to local charities, buy christmas presents or tinned food and donate it, shop at op-shops run buy charity organizations. On a personal level i think some of us do really well, and we can do even better! Lets all go bug britney spears! on her 737k month income she only spends $500 on charity, while 4k on takeaway and $16k on clothes etc.. insane!!
i know our lil family here could give more, i know we will be getting another sponsor child soon (Angelina jolie eat your heart out! lol!)

Dishes

What a picture!! glad its not my kitchen, and im quite glad i've never had the job as a dish hand either! Do you hate doing the dishes? I know maria does! lol ;) I hate em too. Im the only one who does them too!
I slept so good last night. I apparently dreamt that i had done half the dishes that were waiting for me (due to a lazy weekend!) as i could have sworn i did them! But no, all the dishes were still all waiting there! drat!!!
I'd heard previous raves about morning fresh, a concentrated dish washing detergent. Im used to the cheap stuff obviously where you have to use a fair squirt! But if i do that with the concentrate, theres bubbles everywhere and if i dont rinse the cups you can taste it when you drink from a newly washed/dried cup! yuk! (i remember ages ago hearing about the barbie doll twins who squirted dishwashing liquid over half their meal, so they wouldnt eat it?! crazy!)

So do you use a expensive brand that does well? or a cheapie that even tho u go thru a bucket of it, you cant taste any residue? Or i suppose your a lucky duck with a dishwasher ;)

this is my usual nachos effort. 4 bean mix, chilli powder, tomato paste, beef mince, light cheese and chopped fresh tomato.

i have a surprise up my sleeve

I'm awful for not being able to keep my mouth shut about happy, good news.. i've dropped a few hints already.. ;) i'd like to think i've hidden them all to well.. hahaha!
Im a shocker aren't i?! LOL!
anyways...
as requested a new photo of me and my haircut?
yup. the same, just all fixed up!

yawn

Theyv'e figured out how to clone things, but yet the theories are still out on why we yawn, what happens when we yawn and why is it contagious.
Wikipedia:

"Hypothesized causes of yawning

  1. A means of cooling the brain.[5]
  2. An action used as an unconscious communication of psychological decompression after a state of high alert.
  3. A means of expressing powerful emotions like anger, apathy, apprehension, remorse or boredom. [citation needed]
  4. An excess of carbon dioxide and lack of oxygen in the blood. [1]
  5. A way of displaying (or indicative of) apathy.
  6. Tiredness

A recent hypothesis raised in 2007 by Andrew C. Gallup and Gordon Gallup of the University of Albany states that yawning may be a means to keep the brain cool. Mammalian brains operate best when they are cool. In an experiment, he showed several groups of people videos of other people yawning. When the subjects held heat packs up to their foreheads while viewing the videos, they yawned often. But when they held cold packs up to their foreheads or breathed through their noses (another means of brain cooling), they did not yawn at all. [5] [6]

Another recent hypothesis is that yawning is used for regulation of body temperature."

"The yawn reflex is often described as contagious: if one person yawns, this will cause another person to "sympathetically" yawn.[3][10] Observing another person's yawning face (especially his/her eyes), or even reading about or thinking about yawning, can cause a person to yawn.
You could possibly be yawning from reading this section or looking at these pictures.[3][11] However, only about 55% of people in a given audience will respond to such a stimulus; fewer if only the mouth is shown in a visual stimulus.[12]
The proximate cause for contagious yawning may lie with mirror neurons, i.e. neurons in the frontal cortex of certain vertebrates, which upon being exposed to a stimulus from conspecific (same species) and occasionally interspecific organisms, activates the same regions in the brain.[13] Mirror neurons have been proposed as a driving force for imitation which lies at the root of much human learning, e.g. language acquisition. Yawning may be an offshoot of the same imitative impulse. A 2007 study found that children with autism spectrum disorders, unlike typical children, did not yawn after seeing videos of other people yawning; this supports the claim that contagious yawning is based on the capacity for empathy."

I've been having trouble sleeping lately, i think its due to the all-of-a-sudden summer-like weather. A few hot nights and a few sunny hot days. Today was a yawning day, couldn't stop! perhaps i should have gone for a short walk to get some fresh air, but ive been busy surfing the web, reading blogs and stuck into my book! ;)

I think the santa parade was today in Melbourne? i havent seen any pictures of it in the news or on the web, so perhaps its a bit of a non-event? Even the Melbourne cup parade hardly got any time on the news, no apparently politics, and all the yukky awful stuff that goes on is more important.. bummer

DH is enjoying his work, especially making his databases for his work.. *yawn*
I tried out the nandos hot peri peri sauce and didnt expect it to be quite so hot! but it was! im impressed, now i know not to use so much next time! ;)

So has the summer heat hit your place? how many times have you yawned while reading this post (more than usual hahahaa!)

done..

Dropped Tia off a bit late, but i wasnt the only one. Then decided i'd go to the dentist a hour early. I filled out all their forms. And then i went in to my appointment 45minutes early! I might have to get to my other appointments earlier and see if i can do the same thing! hahaha!!
I was told the bony lump in my mouth is fine, normal some sort of evolutionary thing. (pah!) but i will take the normal bit... that i must have alot of good bacteria in my mouth as everything is good, wisdom teeth are fine and dont need to be pulled. And that a molar needs a filling/sealant and thats to blame on the fine fissures of the molar and the toothbrush not being able to clean it properly or something. hey thats cool, blame thing thats meant to be cleaning my teeth. Had a scale and clean, which hurt at times.. 'vibrating' buildup off.. then the usual super fluride gel and being told not to eat or drink for 30mins.
And i got out of there only paying $196 and leaving about the time my appointment would have started! im wondering how i got out of the $250 dental x-rays considering ive been avoiding the dentist for some 14years+? all good! (that and being reminded to floss more often! and to floss before brushing! lol! who would have thought?! lol!)

Friday

Today tia goes to childcare. i guess i will put nicely how the doctor said tia is not autistic. Then im off to the dentist! AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH! Their bills are so scary!
Then i will perhaps go shopping, altho i might just walk home and chill, until picking Tia up again in the afternoon.
im glad its friday!

thursday

this could easily turn into a very big post but here it is in short form!

1) Tia is booked in for a $85 full hearing assessment next week.

2) I went out shopping, i was going to do a big shop, get a home delivery BUT i forgot my re-usable green canvas shopping bags. doh! and also realised there wasnt any urgency for food anyways.

3) I found a nice new pair of black pants! they are quite odd in that the waist band
can roll done/up. no fly or buttons (or belt loops) they could easily be mistaken for maternity pants! (as they cover the belly if unrolled!) Theyre called 'bengal pants'

4) i decided i'd go to the hairdressers!!!! *dont die of shock there!!* (i dont like salons!) i sat down and waited, i knew which person i didnt want to get and of course i ended up getting that hairdresser.

5) i got shampoo, cut and blowdry for $32.. i did not think that was possible! ah the wonders of 'just cuts'!

6) the woman was brutal, it must be coz my scalp should be getting sensitive?, the way she dried my thick long hair ended up giving my hair knots which she would brush out.. OWW!!!!

7) its been years since ive been to a hairdresser. in that time i had a church friend who is a hairdresser, she did my hair for the wedding and when i won a makeover at a church raffle.

8) I visited DH work. He didn't notice my hair cut!!!!!! LOL!

9) We went out with Dh boss & his wife (who also works there as a boss) do you know any employer that is truly that generous?! it was to celebrate DH 30th birthday! We got picked up in their nice mercedes 4WD 6:15pm(i didnt know mercedes made 4WD) with lovely leather inside! Went to a italian resturant called Michelangelo's.

10) we had a garlic focaccia bread (that was round), they had marinated olives, salt n pepper squid and i tried some dukkah and turkish bread. tia had a kids lasagna and salad. Tia and i had pineapple juice and the others had some nice wine.

11)i had chicken parma, james had a steak..

12) they organized a sparkler in a scoop of icecream for the birthday boy.

13) we got dropped off around 10pm! it was a really good night, altho the men could have talked for hours and hours if we had let them! ;)

14) i had the worst night sleep ever!

hairspray

Rang up the doctors and was told to come straight in.
i talked to the doctor and he said she is clearly not autistic from what he observed, he said a autistic child would go stand in the back corner of the room and not make eye contact or engage socially. He agreed that its probably just tia behaving badly, he said he could refer me to get her tested but said he didn't see any need to. I asked about her speech problems and he checked her ears (all fine) asked about any ear infections (nope) and gave me a referral to get her hearing checked, results will take a week and then to come back and talk further about speech therapy.
I have had a fair idea what i need to do with Tia, e.g spend more time with her and have more routine BUT i get lazy, distracted or busy (and sometimes all 3) i still need to learn how to prioritize! i know! I know all about consistency, she doesnt have much fear of me(discipline wise) (dont know why. other than most things e.g barking dogs, she thinks shes invincible!!)altho fear isn't a great motivator for anything.. i just need to spend more focused time with her.

ah, relief! Went to the cinema's to find out we missed a movie time, went and did more shopping and checked out other deli's, fruit shops, butchers etc down that side of town (outside the shopping centre) and returned back to see hairspray! I thought the movie was great, certainly a movie that leaves you on a high! i found it hard to stop looking at john travolta in the fat suit playing a woman, times i forgot that was a man, times i thought wow that fake chicky singing sounds bad! There were some funny moments, some 'enough with the evil bitch' moments.. 99% singing & dancing! ^^ good thing DH wasnt keen on going, im certain he would need some sort of therapy afterwards.. if he had
